Projecting the Seattle Seahawks 2017 Offensive Line

It’s no small secret that the Seahawk’s Offensive line was a steaming hot pile of faeces last year, it ranked last in the league according to ProFootballFocus.com. The best player on that line was Center Justin Britt who ranked 16 th at the position via PFF’s rankings, this is exactly middle of the pack for the league. To be honest if the whole line ranked in that range ‘Hawks fans would have nothing to complain about. However, that wasn’t the case. The second best ranked player was Left Guard Mark Glowinski who was 63 rd at his position. That means that out of 64 available starting slots as Guard in the league he missed being the worst by one. You don’t have to be an expert (and I am definitely not) to realise that this is not a good situation for one of the most important units on a team. Last year’s unit was young and incredibly raw, of the starting unit Britt was the most experienced and he was only a third-year pro. The starting left tackle was George Fant, who I don’t know i...

How the Cleveland Browns have taken the first steps on the long road to redemption. Maybe.

Ever since I started following the NFL the Cleveland Browns have been a laughing stock, the perennial punchline. In fact, for almost my entire lifetime the Browns have been a laughing stock, don't get me wrong there has been a lot of heart break in the past 22 years but also a lot of almost comically bad luck and decisions. In the early days of the NFL, pre-merger, the Browns dominated the sport. Their early Head Coach and founder Paul Brown pretty much invented much of what we now recognize as Football with his offensive innovation and they won 8 league championships. However, since my birth in 1995 their story has been all tragedy and comedy with no glory to be seen. To understand what a long road it has been for probably the most tortured and loyal fan base in the league we need to start with the heartbreak. In February of 1996 the then owner of the Browns, Art Modell, fired the Head Coach Bill Belichick and a week later officially announced that the organisation was moving to...

A look at the Seattle Seahawks 2017 Draft Class

In my recap of the first round that I wrote up on Saturday I didn't get a chance to write about any Seahawks picks, this was because Seattle's GM John Schneider's aim for round one was to acquire some more draft picks. Coming into the Draft the Seahawks were only due to make 7 selections, by the end of the Draft they'd made 11. They moved out of pick 26 back to 29, then moved back again out of the first round entirely to pick 34. When they moved back to from 29 many believe the Seahawks had 3 or 4 players with a round one grade, they were confident they could still get their guy. At pick 32 the Saints took Wisconsin OT, Ryan Ramczyk, I believe this was the first of their potential target players to go, then at pick 33 at the start of the second round the Green Bay Packers took Washington CB, Kevin King, a local college standout who looks the perfect Seahawks DB on paper. The Seahawks were now on the clock with two round one graded players sat  there, Alabama OT, Cam R...

A look back on the first round: a pick by pick view.

Last night's first round of the draft was one that was packed with drama and intrigue, much like the Kevin Costner fronted movie about the very same topic. The drama and intrigue wasn't totally driven by the Browns like the movie, although they definitely played a part in keeping the round interesting from start to finish. Instead the drama started with the number 2 overall pick, we'll get to that in a minute but to kick things off we'll look at the number one overall pick held by the aforementioned Cleveland Browns. Pick 1: Cleveland Brown select  Myles Garrett,  DE,  Texas A&M The Browns did the sensible thing. All draft season the only thing that draftniks could agree upon (for the most part) was that Myles Garrett was the best player available, the home run hit that this franchise has often not delivered in previous drafts. Adding Garrett to a defensive line that now boasts former first round pick Danny Shelton at Nose Tackle and last year's number 32 pi...
